2020-21 NPS School Reopening Report

The district has submitted its plan to the Connecticut State Department of Education for the reopening of schools this fall. The plan was designed by the NPS Reopening Task Force, a group comprised of district and school leaders, community health experts, teachers, staff, parents, community members and individuals from partner organizations.

The plan was prepared in accordance with the State’s current requirement for a full return to in-person learning for this fall, with a virtual option for families who wish to opt out. It also addresses how the district is preparing in case the current risk from COVID-19 rises in the future. If the risk level rises to moderate, the district would transition to a “hybrid” in-person and remote model to reduce density in schools to 50%. If the COVID-19 risk level rises to high, a full remote learning model would be implemented across the district, with all students learning from home.

Any change to in-person learning would be made in consultation with the Norwalk Health Director and Connecticut State Department of Education.

For an overview of the plan, join NPS and Superintendent Dr. Alexandra Estrella at a virtual town hall meeting on Wednesday, July 29.  There will be two parent meetings, including one in Spanish, as well as a separate one for parents and guardians.  Click here for more information.
